Lucas Glover Beat Ricky Barnes, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods

Lucas Glover, 29, who had only two professional victories under his belt, won beating Ricky Barnes at the 2009 US Open Golf Championship held on Monday afternoon. Glover won because he didn't make many critical mistakes on the back nine, turning in eight pars. Barnes, David Duval and Phil Mickelson tied for second at 2-under 278.

Ricky Barnes, meanwhile, did his best to conceal his disappointment. At one point in the championship, he had opened up a six-stroke lead.

"At the end of the day, if you have told me I would be two under and finished second in the U.S. Open, I would have taken it," said Barnes, the 2002 U.S. Amateur champion. "But I'm a little bit bummed."

After Miguel Cotto won the Cotto vs Clottey welterweight fight on Saturday night, June 13 Manny Pacquiao has given promoter Bob Arum the go signal to arrange a fight between the two stars. Though it's not yet finalized, there is a possibility Pacman will fight Cotto this year, preferably month of November.

"Manny told me what to do. Manny told me 'Go ahead, make that fight.' So it will go Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand here in (Las) Vegas," Arum told Marley. "He (Pacquiao) was impressed by Cotto's fan support and told me it reminded him of how the British fans stand with Ricky Hatton."

A proposed Pacquiao-Cotto bout became more likely after Floyd Mayweather -- one of Pacquiao's targeted opponents -- announced he is calling off his comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez because of a rib injury he sustained while training.

If you followed the five games of Magic vs Lakers on the 2009 NBA Finals, I am sure you won't be surprised with the result. The Los Angeles Lakers, top-seeded champions of the Western Conference, defeated the Orlando Magic, 3rd seeded champions of the Eastern Conference, four games to one in a best-of-seven series.

Kobe Bryant is the Finals MVP this year. Bryant averaged 32.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game during the series.

The Los Angeles Lakers returned to the Finals for the 30th time in franchise history, an NBA record, and for the second consecutive year, marking the first time that the previous year's runner-up won the NBA Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers held home-court advantage due to their better season record. Games 1 and 2 were held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 4 and 7, respectively. Games 3, 4, and 5, were held at Amway Arena in Orlando on June 9, 11, and 14 respectively.

Following the game, NBA Commissioner David Stern presented the Lakers with the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy and presented Kobe Bryant with the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Trophy during a presentation on center-court at Amway Arena.

It was the Lakers 15th NBA title, second only to the 17 NBA championships held by the Boston Celtics.

Pittsburgh Penguins won 2009 Stanley Cup Finals

Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Western Conference champion Detroit Red Wings on June 12, four games to three, and were awarded the Stanley Cup. The Penguins' Cup victory, coupled with that of the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII four months earlier, allows the city of Pittsburgh to boast two champions in the same year for the second time and first time in 30 years.

For the first time, the Pittsburgh Penguins played a seventh game in the Stanley Cup Finals, while the Red Wings made their seventh appearance in the deciding game. Detroit had previously gone 3–3 in Game 7's. Their last Stanley Cup Final Game 7 was in 1964 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, where they lost by the score of 4–0 in Maple Leaf Gardens.

The Penguins became the first team since the 1971 Montreal Canadiens to win Game 7 of the Finals on the road. They were also the first road team to win Game 7 of a championship round, in any major league sport, since the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 at Memorial Stadium to win the 1979 World Series.

For the Red Wings, it was the first time that they lost in the Finals since 1995, when they were swept by the Devils.
