In a recent report by ESPN news, on Wednesday morning, the New York Yankees were very close to a preliminary agreement with CC Sabathia followed by an in-person meeting between Yankees GM Brian Cashman and Sabathia in California.
The New York Post first reported that Sabathia had decided to go with the Yankees after fielding offers from a number of teams.
The terms of the deal are still being negotiated, and it's possible that the final deal will look different than the six year, $140 million contract that the Yankees initially dangled.
Sabatia has a career record of 117-73 and a 3.66 ERA in eight big league seasons, mostly with the Cleveland Indians.
