The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will be launching its “Power Lotto” draw on May 17, 2008. The Power Lotto also known as "lotto for the rich" will costs 50 pesos per bet and the minimum prize money starts at 50 million pesos.
PCSO said that more people are prepared to place bigger bets if the prizes at stake are bigger, and that it would lead to bigger revenues for the agency to use in charity services. Bigger bet, bigger stake, bigger revenues.
To win the new Power Lotto, a bettor will have to correctly choose five numbers from 1 to 55, in any order, plus a sixth number from another series from 1 to 10 - six numbers in all. The probability of winning in the Power Lotto is 1 out of 34.7 million, in contrast to Super Lotto 6/49 (1 in 13.9 million); Mega Lotto (1 in 8.1 million) and Regular Lotto (1 in 5.2 million) chances.
The Power Lotto will be drawn only once a week which is every Tuesday to maximize the excitement.
